Coffee on the Table, Georgetown Penang

About the Place
164, Lebuh Pantai, Georgetown, Penang.

Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/THEDINEMANSIONcoffeeonthetable

My Experience
Located along the busy street of Georgetown (Penang), this little coffee house is filled with excited people waiting for their cup of 3D coffee art. Their 3D coffee's price ranges from roughly RM12-21.

I found this place on #penangcafe (Instagram), saw quite a few ppl posted pictures of it so decided to give it a try. The other famous place that was popular on #penangcafe was "Street Art Cafe, Penang", saw many ppl posting their fried ice cream (looks real good). I'll try that some other day.

The outside:

The place:

3D art coffee menu:

We had their Mocha (Pig):

Hazelnut Latte (Elephant) & Hazelnut Chocolate (Cat and Bear)

We were there to chill for the afternoon, so that's all we ordered. The taste of their coffee is just okayyyy, a lil too milky and sweet. The place was really comfortable, a combination of antique deco and stone brick wall plus the cooling temperature in the cafe (I hate it when cafes are hot, u know msian weather), so that cafe burn r was just at the right tone.

So overall, coffee was okay, ambience was great, decoration was unique, playlist was good (I was singing to the songs). A nice place to chill and chat.

That's all, signing off!

Naughty Nuri's, Desa Sri Hartamas

About the Place
 No.2, Ground Floor,
20/70A,, Jalan Sri Hartamas 22,
Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

(Next to Bricks and Barrels, big red signboard)
Website: https://www.facebook.com/nnkualalumpur

My Experience
People have been talking about this place, about how it is from Bali and it is really famous there. But nope, I have not tried the one there so I can't compare. This place is not hard to find if you know Hartamas, it is just next to Bricks and Barrels. Once you reached the street, you will see 2 big read signboard, so pretty hard to miss.

The restaurant:

It was a hot Sunday afternoon and, the air-conditioned area was full, so where we sat was hot but they did compensate this with the fan. Still, it was a little stuffy.

The evolution of...

Our orders:

Naughty Nuri’s 1995 Signature BBQ Pork Spare Ribs
RM39 per slab
Just nice for two person. BF loved the sauce, it was too spicy for me.

Indonesian Style Mee Goreng
RM18 + RM5 (roasted pork)
The noodle was pretty normal, but we added their roasted pork, which made the mee goreng extra yummy. Their roast pork was sliced into a small mini pieces, and yeah, it was like a treasure hunt in there.

Luncheon Fries
We thought it was going to be some crispy luncheon meat, but it was just, sliced luncheon meat, not quite what we expected. However, it was still good. This was served with chilli mayo which was again, too spicy for me, but my reliable source says it goes well with the "fries".

Asam Boi Mojito
Apparently the most ordered mojito according to the waitress. Gave it a try and heyyyy, not bad at all. But when the ice melted and it was no longer cold, the mojito was too "gao", and I prefer it slightly more frizzy.

Carlsberg Pint
After the heavy meal + a hot day, a pint of Carlsberg was the perfect end.

Mr. Dakgalbi, Citta Mall, Ara Damansara

About the Place
G-29, Citta Mall
Ara Damansara

(Opposite Stick House)

My Experience
Located in one of the corners in Citta Mall, Mr. Dakgalbi was not easy to spot. But thanks to the 2 staffs giving out flyers and inviting us in, we decided to give it a try. Mr. Dakgalbi is not new, it has already established its name in KL (Mont Kiara and Bukit Bintang), which seems quite popular. The restaurant was big and therefore ventilation was good (I don’t think I want to be in a small smoky room). At the end of the meal, we didn’t smell like we were soaked in Korean BBQ smoke. We ordered the normal chicken set for 2 people and added on the ramen:

All in all, the good was okay, nothing bad, acceptable. But I would prefer Uncle Jang (Puchong) over this.

La Vie En Rose, Jalan Raja Chulan KL

About the Place
39, Jalan Raja Chulan
50200 Kuala Lumpur

(Shell station on your left and "upturn" up the slope on the next left)

Tel: 03-20783883
Website: www.lavieenrose.com.my
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lavieenrosekl

My Experience
It was a quite difficult to locate the place as the way in doesn't look like the way in at all. So as long as you are on the road and you see shell station, make a "upturn" up the slope on your next left. There's only jockey parking available at this place cause parking is too limited there.

We were the first few customers there that night, the 3 of us. So we were joking about how this place was so difficult to get to that some people might just not find it.

Here are our orders for the night:

Complimentary Appetizer:
I kinda thought it was Wasabi on the top there, but it was blended vegetable I guess. A simply light taste to start our meal.

1) House-smoked salad-trout, Petunia, Lemon and Chive Cream Parmesan Crackers and Aragula Salad (totally copied this from the menu)
RM 36
This dish was really good, I love how the crackers feels with the soft, smooth salmon.

2) Pan-fried Hokkaido Scallops, Roasted Capsicum Collis and Grilled Duck Breast
RM 80
I had scallops for my main course. Absolutely love it. The scallops were fresh, and the salty duck breast adds a light salty taste to the scallops. Together with the creamy sauce, it was just great.

3) Pan-fried Atlantic Cod Fillet, Lemon and Capers Beurre Blanc, Fresh Spinach
RM 79

4) Valrhona Dark Chocolate Lava Cake, Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
RM 25
A cake that melted my heart :)

5) Cold Strawberry Soup, Basil Sorbet, and Almond Crisp
RM 23
This is really a special dessert. We 3 stepped out of our comfort zone and decided to have this. The strawberry soup is like a juice-jam-sorbet combination. Add the basil sorbet did not taste weird at all. It tasted really fresh. Will definitely order this again the next time I come.

All in all, the environment was great. Good for a night of chilling and hanging out. It is really suitable for a date night too. The billed totalled to about RM 150-200 per person (We had wine as well)

So, great ambience, Great ppl, plus Cute-probably-french-waiter :)

My Experience
Jom kita pergi! #ootd #dolledup

It was my parent's anniversary when my family and I headed to Tatsu, it was on a Sunday night and the place was pretty empty. According to my colleague and a friend who recommended me to go there, the place was slightly packed when they went.

But when I was there, my family was literally the only customer there and we had 5-6 waitresses serving us, just a slight hand movement and the waitresses will attend to our needs. Tatsu is an alacarte buffet restaurant, so having quick and efficient service is important.

Pretty good dishes:

Started our meal with Edamame, I guess this can't really go wrong at most restaurant, the light sprinkle of salt made this dish pretty addictive.

And then we were asked if we wanted the assorted sashimi. Their sashimi were fresh and were in thick slices. But my favourite was still SALMON.

You can request for the waitress to bring the number of pieces you want. Or say the number of pax who wants the sashimi.

After getting a lil bored with salmon sashimi, get it grilled instead! The sweet teriyaki sauce compliments the soft and moist salmon fish. Together with the crispy salmon skin..... Many salmon fish I've eaten are pretty dry so this, is one to remember.

I love the scallops. They come in big pieces and they are juicy. They did not add much sauce to it to preserve its original taste which I think was fantastic!

Standard (Hard to go wrong) dishes:

A must have for me in japanese restaurants would be Chawanmushi. Their Chawanmushi is standard/ normal, not bad and not good either.

Their beef cubes were okay. Not much taste (I guess to preserve the original taste of the beef):

Straw mushroom wrapped in beef (I love strawmushroom, but personally not a fan of this dish):

Some other dishes that they have in Tatsu:

The bill added up to about RM140 per person. (After tax and all)

Overall, I really enjoyed my meal there. Now that Tao has degraded (Last visit in May and I didn't like it AT ALL), Tatsu is my new fav jap buffet. It's definitely more pricey than usual, but it IS worth it :)
